We the undersigned two of the members of the First Evangelical Lutheran Dutch Church of Zion of Marshall hereby certify that in pursuance of a Public Notice given according to law for the purpose of organizing a church, the members of said Society met at their usual place of worship on the 23rd day of December A.D. 1855 & that at said meeting & that at said meeting [sic] the following persons were elected Trustees of the First Evangelical Lutheran Dutch Church of Zion of Marshall & the same to serve for --- years or until others shall be elected ____ __ John Kappis, Philip Kuechle, Lorenz Walz, Peter Katz, & Mathias Strouble – John Kappis & Lorenz Walz for one year. Philip Kuechle & Peter Katz for two years & Peter Strouble [sic] for four years.
