Battle Creek Baptist Society
We the undersigned do hereby certify that on the seventh day of October A.D. 1843 at a meeting duly notified and held according to law at the School house in the village of Battle Creek it was Resolved that this Society be known as the Battle creek Baptist Society.
Deacon William Betterly & Charles Cooley were elected to receive the votes of the members of said Society, proceeded to ballot for trustees to manage the concerns of said Society and on counting the votes so received we do further certify
Nedabiah Angell, Zachens K. Toby, Edward Parker, Leonard Starkweather & Charles Cooley was [sic] duly elected trustees to manage the concerns of said society.

The above was subscribed and sworn to before me this the 29th day of Dec 1845.
